Job summary

Plymouth Township is seeking a Finance Director to oversee financial operations, budgeting, auditing, and all accounting activities. The role ensures compliance with state and township ordinances, directs staff, and drives transparency in financial activity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business administration; master’s or CPA preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience; governmental or municipal accounting desired.
• Experience in supervisory capacity preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for diverse populations.
• Ability to follow and communicate accounting procedures; tactful and courteous.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and make quick, accurate decisions.

Responsibilities

• Directs maintenance and control of accounting and financial reporting systems.
• Monitors and upgrades the Township's accounting system for data and statutory compliance.
• Coordinates budget process and prepares annual Township Budget.
• Advises on budgets for Water Department and development authorities; supports other units.
• Performs quarterly internal audits and coordinates annual audits.
• Coordinates accounts payable operations and verifies accuracy.
• Manages purchasing cycle and ensures policy compliance.
• Supervises Finance Department staff and delegates tasks.
• Assists in bonding, capital expenditures, and financial projects.
• Attends Township meetings and represents financial matters.
• Assists in financial data for labor negotiations and special projects.
