PUBLIC FINANCE CAREER ASSOCIATE ATTORNEY (off-track)

Our client, a prestigious Amlaw 50 firm, is seeking an experienced Career Associate Attorney to join their nationally-recognized Public Finance Practice in one of multiple locations, particularly Wheeling, WV. This opportunity is ideal for candidates who are interested in sophisticated finance work with meaningful public impact, and who are looking to grow their careers within a dynamic and supportive legal environment. The firm is especially interested in candidates interested in joining as a Career Associate—a non-partner track position offering access to top-tier legal work with greater flexibility.

Candidate Profile:
  • JD from a top-tier law school with a strong academic record.

  • Active Bar Admission in the relevant jurisdiction (CA, DC, IL, MA, NY, OR, TX, WA, WV) or eligibility to waive in is required.

  • 2–4 years of substantive experience in a law firm's Public Finance practice.

  • Background in public finance, transactional work, or securities law is a plus.

  • Experience with municipal bonds, structured finance, or nonprofit financings is advantageous.

  • Exceptional writing, document drafting, and communication skills.

  • Highly motivated, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple matters efficiently.

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, with a collaborative, client-focused approach.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support public and private clients on a broad range of public finance transactions, including the issuance of tax-exempt and taxable municipal bonds and other debt instruments.

  • Participate in financings for public infrastructure, 501(c)(3) organizations, nonprofit hospitals, schools, housing, and public-private partnerships.

  • Assist with due diligence, disclosure preparation, and drafting of offering and transaction documents.

  • Advise clients on regulatory compliance matters, including IRS and SEC issues related to municipal securities.

  • Work with cross-functional teams on complex, high-impact financings, restructurings, and work-outs.

  • Contribute to thought leadership and client development initiatives in the public finance sector.

Compensation & Benefits:
  • Competitive Salary:$150,000 – $234,000, determined by experience and local market factors.
