Job summary

The City of New York seeks qualified Human Rights Specialists (Infoline) to join the Law Enforcement Bureau. You will be the first point of contact for the public, providing information, screening calls, and scheduling intake appointments for the NYCHRL program.

Responsibilities include community outreach, data entry, letter generation, and maintaining an organized filing system. This role supports agency operations and requires dedication to serving diverse New Yorkers.

Qualifications

• A baccalaureate degree plus two years of satisfactory full-time experience in intergroup relations, community relations, civil rights law enforcement, or related fields.
• Alternative: four-year high school diploma with four years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination.
• Intergroup relations experience involves facilitating communication and mediation between groups.

Responsibilities

• Answer public inquiries via live call center with professional demeanor and screen calls for intake appointments.
• Outreach to community groups and organizations to raise awareness of NYCHRL issues.
• Perform data entry, generate letters, and support agency operations through electronic filing.
• Maintain organized filing and provide reception and document handling duties.
• Prepare reports and participate in training to stay current with NYCHRL requirements.
