This highly visible, public-facing role serves as a key contact for local businesses and policymakers while overseeing a team of navigators and leading complex economic development initiatives.

Expected starting salary is $109,000–$119,000 annually. The role emphasizes equity, community engagement, reporting, and budget oversight within a collaborative city framework.

Qualifications

• Ten years of progressively responsible experience in urban planning, housing development, economic development, public administration, or financial management.
• Associate's Degree may be substituted for two years of work experience; Bachelor's for four years; Master's for six years.

Responsibilities

• Build strong relationships with the business community and associations and represent the City in public settings.
• Supervise an assigned team, including planning and assigning work, managing performance, and addressing disciplinary matters.
• Lead complex business services and economic development initiatives involving outreach, zoning, planning, licensing, funding programs, and real estate transactions.
• Serve as an expert resource and navigator for businesses, connecting them with City departments and external partners.
• Develop and monitor program budgets, reporting and compliance requirements, performance measures, and outcomes.
• Translate departmental priorities into actionable work plans and provide reports, proposals, and policy recommendations to leadership and officials.
