Job summary

The City of New York, Department of Homeless Services, is seeking a Stationary Engineer to operate and maintain boiler and related systems in public buildings and shelters. The role requires a valid High Pressure Boiler Operating Engineer license from NYC Buildings and involves overseeing a watch and coordinating with maintenance staff.

Typical hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00am–3:00pm, with responsibilities including preventive maintenance, reading meters, and preparing material

Qualifications

• Valid High Pressure Boiler Operating Engineer license issued by NYC Buildings Department.
• All required certificates must be maintained for the duration of the assignment.

Responsibilities

• Operates, maintains and adjusts boilers, furnaces, engines, pumps, heat exchangers, generators, motors, chillers, cooling towers, and related equipment in public buildings.
• Makes periodic inspections and minor repairs.
• Performs preventive maintenance.
• Take responsible charge of a watch and direct subordinate personnel.
• Operate consoles in control rooms.
• Prepare requisitions for materials and spare parts.
• Reads meters, gauges and logs data.
• Keeps records and reports.
