Qualifications

Associate degree with coursework in criminal justice, forensics, law or related area of study.
A bachelor’s degree may be substituted for up to 2 years of investigatory experience.

Responsibilities

Locating and interviewing witnesses and clients.
Investigating crime scenes and designating high-crime areas for investigation planning.
Preparing and presenting oral and written reports.
Documenting locations with measurements, diagrams, and photographs.
Utilizing online records and social media for case information.
Maintaining records of all phases of the investigation and meeting deadlines.
Testifying in court as needed.
Coordinating with attorneys and CPCS staff to support case strategy.
Developing familiarity with Massachusetts criminal laws and procedures.
Arranging timely appearance of witnesses and transportation as needed.
