Job summary

Office of the Public Defender in Bozeman, MT is seeking a Public Defender-Conflict to represent indigent clients in criminal and related matters. This role requires strong advocacy, legal research, and collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team.

Ideal candidates will have a Juris Doctorate and Montana Bar membership, with experience in criminal defense and a commitment to pursuing justice and fair outcomes for clients.

Qualifications

• JD required and admission to the Montana State Bar.
• Experience in criminal defense preferred.
• Ability to work with indigent clients and diverse populations.

Responsibilities

• Represent clients in court and in hearings, and draft legal documents.
• Provide defense in felony and misdemeanor cases.
• Interview witnesses and gather evidence for trial.
• Collaborate with other attorneys and staff for trial preparation.
• Travel as needed to court or hearings (up to 40%).
