Job summary

Office of the Public Defender in Montana seeks a Public Defender-Conflict. You will defend indigent clients in criminal and related matters, advocate in court, review documents, and apply state and federal law to cases with or without precedent. This position requires Juris Doctorate and Montana Bar membership; criminal defense experience preferred.

Telework eligibility is noted. Travel up to 50% possible. Salary ranges from 91,543 to 119,041 USD yearly with health insurance, paid leave, and

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate Degree from an accredited law school.
• Membership in the State Bar of Montana.
• Experience in criminal defense preferred.

Responsibilities

• Represents clients in court and during hearings.
• Reviews and drafts legal documents, etc. along with legal findings and orders.
• Interprets state and federal laws and precedents.
• Provides legal advice and settlement negotiations.
• Collaborates with other attorneys during trials and hearings.
• Manages cases with substantial legal precedent and evolving laws.
