Job summary

MPD seeks an Attorney I in Hillsboro, Oregon to provide court-appointed criminal defense services in Multnomah and Washington counties. You will review police reports, meet clients, and manage case strategy from investigation through trial. Position pays a competitive salary with union benefits.

You must be a current member of the Oregon State Bar in good standing and handle diverse assignments with integrity, teamwork, and professional conduct in all proceedings.

Qualifications

• Must be a current member of the Oregon State Bar in good standing.

Responsibilities

• Review charging instruments, police reports, and discovery provided by the State.
• Meet with clients to learn their goals and any special needs of the client.
• Determine what further investigation is needed and direct that investigation.
• Negotiate with the State and advise the client on status of negotiations.
• Litigate necessary and appropriate legal issues, including trials and post-trial motions (excluding appeals).
• Review documents from government agencies and develop a strategy with the client.
