Henry County and the Henry County Public Service Authority is seeking a Public Information Officer to lead communications, media relations, and messaging for the County and HCPSA. The role requires producing content, managing events, and advising leadership on communications strategy.

The position is full-time in Henry County, VA, with a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits. The incumbent will regularly attend Board meetings and serve as the FOIA officer.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, broadcasting, marketing, or related field.
• Considerable experience in PR, social media, content creation, marketing, TV or radio production, or web design.
• Strong writing and speaking skills; comfortable with cameras, video editing, and Adobe Creative Suite.
• A valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary media contact and public voice for the County and HCPSA.
• Create content: news stories, website updates, social posts, and video.
• Attend regular meetings of the Board of Supervisors and Board of Directors.
• Write speeches, remarks, proclamations, and resolutions for elected and appointed officials.
• Collaborate with departments to host public events and promotions that reinforce consistent branding and messaging.
• Advise Administration staff on communications strategy.
• Serve as the FOIA officer.
• Represent the County as its face in the community when leadership isn't available.
