Job summary

The Office of Labor Relations (OLR) represents the Mayor in labor relations between the City of New York and labor unions. A Receptionist for the Pre-Tax Programs Department will greet visitors, manage the front desk, and support administrative and clerical duties, handling mail, deliveries, and subpoenas as needed.

Residency in New York City is generally required within 90 days of appointment. The role emphasizes customer service, multitasking, and adaptability in a dynamic city environment.

Qualifications

  • High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or
  • Education and/or experience which is equivalent to the above.

Responsibilities

  • Greet, assist, and direct all visitors for the Pre-Tax Programs Department within the Employee Benefit Programs, including the Deferred Compensation Plan, Management Benefits Fund, and Flexible Spending Accounts Program.
  • Manage front desk operations and provide information regarding the agency and its programs to visitors.
  • Communicate with building security for admitting outside agency staff for various meetings with Plan Administration.
  • Support administrative functions by preparing materials for meetings.
  • Receive all deliveries from couriers and distribute accordingly.
  • Receive mail delivered by USPS and the agency mailroom.
  • Open and distribute a large volume of mail for all Pre-Tax Benefits Programs which includes program enrollment forms and claims forms.
  • Accept subpoenas relating to the programs within the Employee Benefits Program.
  • Support staff with special projects and clerical duties as needed.
