Job summary

Coast to Coast Legal Aid of South Florida (CCLA) is hiring two Attorneys for the Public Benefits Unit. You will advocate for low-income individuals, handling SSDI/SSI, SNAP/TANF, and healthcare denial matters, with supervision of interns and collaboration with a team of attorneys. A JD and Florida Bar admission are required, with bilingual skills preferred.

The role emphasizes client advocacy, outreach, and timely case management in a hybrid work setting with substantial community impact.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) and admission to the Florida Bar in good standing.
• Bilingual English/Spanish or English/Haitian Creole (spoken and written) preferred.
• Public benefits experience, particularly SSDI/SSI or reemployment assistance is a plus.
• Capable of independence and responsibility in this professional capacity.
• Experience or interest in working with people with disabilities and/or lower socioeconomic status preferred.
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Advocate for low-income individuals by providing high-quality legal representation and advice on public benefits matters.
• Supervise interns and paralegals assigned to cases within their practice areas.
• Attend unit meetings and complete monthly case reports; train staff as needed.
• Represent clients in SSDI/SSI hearings, reemployment assistance matters, SNAP/TANF cases, and healthcare denials.
• Maintain client communications, manage case notes, and meet deadlines.
