Job summary

The State of Mississippi is seeking a Benefit Program Specialist I (Eligibility Specialist) in Lincoln County, MS. This full-time position analyzes eligibility for public assistance programs, auditing processes and reporting findings to ensure program effectiveness.

You will manage caseloads, adhere to deadlines, and communicate with diverse stakeholders. A Bachelor’s Degree with 0–2 years (or an Associate’s Degree with 2–3 years) is preferred; located in Lincoln County, MS.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree with 0–2 years of experience, or Associate’s Degree with 2–3 years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate benefit and eligibility programs by auditing processes and reporting findings.
• Lead work within a benefit area and review colleagues' outputs.
• Assist in establishing public assistance programs in response to legislative mandates and recommend policy revisions.
• Oversee high-value claims, benefits, and/or eligibility through analysis of complex facts to develop cases.
• Advocate in an appeals process.
