Lozano Smith in Monterey, California, seeks an experienced Paralegal to join our public agency law team. You will support attorneys handling school districts, municipalities, and other government entities.

Ideal candidates hold an ABA approved Paralegal certificate, have 3+ years of relevant experience with public agencies, and demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• ABA approved Paralegal certificate is required.
• 3+ years of experience, preferably with public agencies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities are essential.
• Ability to support attorneys with discovery, briefs, and pleadings.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day administrative support to attorneys.
• Draft standard correspondence, memoranda, and documents.
• Review and draft discovery requests and responses for attorney review.
• Review and redact documents for production and prepare privilege logs.
• Organize and maintain evidence in paper and electronic formats.
• Conduct legal research using electronic and traditional methods.
• Manage calendar and deadline reminder system; use master calendar.
• Set up client files following conflict check procedures.
• Maintain client files according to established procedures.
• Assist with trial and administrative hearing preparation.
