Google LLC is seeking a strategic Public Affairs Manager for New Market Development in the Reston area. You will lead multi-market public affairs initiatives, negotiate complex agreements, and collaborate with policy, operations, and business teams to advance Google's regional growth and infrastructure projects.

You will drive cross-state campaigns, build government and community partnerships, and help translate corporate initiatives into local benefits, all while traveling up to 40% to support

  • Develop, lead, and execute complex, multi-state public affairs strategies and campaigns that proactively safeguard the data center lifecycle across both existing and future markets.
  • Serve as a key ambassador and advocate for Google's priorities, amplifying our economic, energy, sustainability, and social contributions to position our presence as a local engine for growth and innovation.
  • Partner closely with a broad range of internal teams and external stakeholders to drive data center market development projects seamlessly from concept to completion.
  • Translate corporate and technical initiatives into tangible, highly visible local benefits that align with and support community priorities.

As Google's products and services scale the globe, the Strategic Negotiation team works behind the scenes to secure infrastructure for Google's future -- everything from underwater cables to physical data center space. As a Strategic Negotiator, you combine your deep market knowledge of a given sector with tech industry savvy to negotiate cost-effective solutions to support Google's infrastructure growth. You'll work with specific project teams on negotiating deals, managing vendor and partner relationships and presenting deal recommendations to our Tech leadership. Your successful negotiations have the potential to save Google millions of dollars in operating costs and impact every part of the business.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
US: $176000 - $256000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits
