Job summary

LSG, an impact agency in Washington, DC, seeks interns to gain hands-on experience in communications, public affairs, community engagement, and related fields. You should be a team player with strong writing and verbal skills, research abilities, and critical thinking.

The spring internship runs January 5 to May 14 at our downtown DC office. Interns work on-site and earn $23 per hour, up to 30 hours weekly, gaining exposure to policy, brand, and advocacy work.

Qualifications

• Rising college junior/senior or recent graduate in communications, public policy, political science, journalism or related field.
• Exceptional writing abilities with strong research and fact-checking skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Self-motivated, team-oriented with collaborative mindset.
• Experience crafting messages for diverse audiences and stakeholders.
• Familiar with media monitoring and social media tools (Cision, Meltwater, Hootsuite, Canva).

Responsibilities

• Analyzing complex communications challenges and developing strategic solutions.
• Creating persuasive client materials including op-eds, press releases, and policy briefs.
• Refining written content with meticulous accuracy and messaging.
• Tracking media coverage and identifying trends across traditional and digital platforms.
• Building and maintaining targeted media distribution lists.
• Supporting high-profile events including hearings, press conferences, and client meetings.
• Researching emerging issues to drive innovative client solutions and business development.
• Contributing to social media strategy and content creation.
