Job summary

JRC, a defense-focused engineering and communications team, seeks a Junior Public Affairs Officer to support the Naval SSP missions. You will draft and edit communications, coordinate with SSP Headquarters in Washington, and help produce accurate, timely materials aligned with DoD policies.

You must possess strong writing and editing skills, a DoD Secret clearance, and the ability to work with government leadership.

Qualifications

• Active DoD Secret clearance required at start of employment.
• Associate degree or equivalent experience in public affairs or communications.
• Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and with government leadership.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Sound judgment and discretion handling sensitive information.

Responsibilities

• Draft, edit, and review articles, news releases, talking points, and presentations.
• Support SSP Headquarters with daily public affairs activities.
• Research and monitor media coverage to inform leadership and public affairs initiatives.
• Assist with media inquiries and stakeholder coordination.
• Support leadership engagements and internal/external communications.
• Ensure materials follow review, OPSEC, and information-release procedures.
• Maintain public affairs records and meet deadlines.
