Blue and Co. LLC is seeking a Public Accounting Intern in Lexington, Kentucky, to provide hands-on experience across Tax, Audit, and Healthcare Reimbursement teams. Interns will actively assist in client service and receive mentorship to support their growth and understanding of tax practices.

The ideal candidate should have a minimum GPA of 3.2, be pursuing an accounting or finance major, and possess strong technical skills in Microsoft Office. The internship is full-time, running from January to April 2028.

Qualifications

• Must have a minimum GPA of 3.2.
• Strong technical skills in Microsoft Office including Word, PPT, Outlook, and Excel.
• Authorized to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with audits and reviews.
• Preparation of basic financial statements and schedules for clients.
• Standard and complex tax return preparation (1040, S-Corp, C-Corp, Partnerships, 941, 1099).
• Tax research projects.
• Assistance on Medicaid/Medicare cost reports analysis.

What You’ll Do

As a Blue intern, you’ll gain meaningful, hands‑on experience by contributing directly to our client service teams. You’ll be supported by mentors, receive real‑time feedback, and collaborate with coworkers, leadership, and client business owners.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with audits and reviews
• Understanding the impact of business transactions on the financial statements and cultivating a "business advisor" perspective
• Preparation of basic financial statements and schedules for clients
• Standard and complex tax return preparation (1040, S-Corp, C-Corp, Partnerships, 941, 1099)
• Tax research projects
• Assistance on Medicaid/Medicare cost reports analysis for health care facilities
• Analysis related to mergers, acquisitions, litigation, ESOPs, and estate and succession planning

What We’re Looking For

• Strong academic performance (Minimum GPA 3.2)
• Accounting, Finance or related major on track to meet the requirements for CPA exam
• Strong technical skills in Microsoft Office, including Word, PPT, Outlook and Excel
• Demonstrated leadership and problem‑solving skills
• Success in working independently and as part of a team
• Available to work overtime hours including evening/weekends and travel as necessary
• Exhibit strong communication skills – willingness to ask questions to gain knowledge of complex subjects
• Authorized to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis
