Field PTA Physical Therapy Assistant for Medicare Certified Home Health - Per Diem W2 Employee (PRN)

We have an immediate need for an experienced Home Health PTA to cover our Southern Pinellas County territory.Our interdisciplinary team works collaboratively to provide comprehensive care.We encourage open communication, feedback, and mutual support.

JOB SUMMARY:

A Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) administers physical therapy to patients on an intermittent basis in their residence, in accordance with physician orders and the plan of care, under the supervision of a Registered Physical Therapist (PT).

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate from a two-year college-level program approved by the American Physical Therapy Association.
  • Currently licensed, registered, or certified in Florida.
  • Two years’ experience preferred.
  • Acceptance of the philosophy and goals of the agency.
  • Ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment.
  • Must have current CPR certification, TB test, health statement/physical clearance to work, and eligible Level 2 background check.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Understand and adhere to established agency policies and procedures.
  • Provide physician-prescribed physical therapy under a plan of care established by the PT.
  • Improve or minimize residual physical disabilities of the patient.
  • Return the individual to an optimal and productive level within the patient’s capabilities.
  • Participate with healthcare personnel in patient care planning.
  • Perform all skilled procedures as ordered by the physician and according to the plan of care established by the PT.
  • Consult with PT regarding changes in treatment.
  • Instruct patients and family members in home programs and activities of daily living.
  • Prepare medical records, progress notes, and update care plans for each patient visit in a timely manner, per agency policy.
  • Perform services planned, delegated, and supervised by the PT.
  • Participate in patient and family education.
  • Perform maintenance therapy services under a maintenance program established by a qualified therapist, within the scope of practice defined by state licensure laws.
