Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant to administer physical therapy treatments under the supervision of a Physical Therapist, ensuring patient safety and proper documentation. The role spans Acute Care, Inpatient Rehabilitation, and Outpatient settings, with opportunities for student and intern clinical training.

Qualified candidates are graduates of an accredited PT program, licensed or eligible for PTA licensure in Alabama, and CPR certified.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited School of Physical Therapy Program required.
• Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
• Currently licensed, eligible to be licensed or having a temporary license as a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) according to the rules and regulations of the Alabama Board of Physical Therapy required.
• Currently certified with Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) required.

Responsibilities

• Under the direction of the Physical Therapist, to administer physical therapy treatment according to established professional standards and uphold patient safety in all interactions.
• To complete patient-related documentation ensuring content and timeliness to meet professional requirements and legal/regulatory specifications.
• To participate in clinical training of assigned students and interns.
• To work in Acute Care, Inpatient Rehabilitation and/or Outpatient areas as assigned.

Pay range: $24.05 - $39.10 / hour
Schedule: 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Job Highlights

Our highly skilled acute care therapy team provides occupational, physical, speech, and music therapies, along with audiology services, across a variety of settings. Practice locations include UAB Hospital and UAB Hospital-Highlands, which includes 12 specialty ICUs and two emergency departments, as well as specialty clinics like the UAB Russell Clinic and the Audiology Clinic at The Kirklin Clinic of UAB Hospital. The goal of therapy at this level is to promote early mobilization, restore function, prevent further decline, enhance communication, and facilitate a safer and more seamless transition to the next level of care. Acute care therapy services are available with a referral from a physician, and patients of all ages are treated at the bedside in most cases.
