Job summary

Estherville Community Care Center is seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to provide therapy services in a long-term care setting under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. The PTA will help residents improve mobility, strength, balance, and independence while promoting safety and quality of life.

The role emphasizes collaboration with residents, families, nursing staff, and the rehabilitation team; include documentation, safety, and adherence to regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
• Licensed PTA in the state of employment or eligible.
• CPR certification preferred.
• Experience in long-term care or geriatric rehabilitation preferred.
• Knowledge of physical therapy techniques and safety standards.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Implement treatment plans under supervising Physical Therapist.
• Provide therapeutic exercises, gait training, transfer training, balance activities, and mobility interventions.
• Assist residents with improving strength, coordination, range of motion, and functional mobility.
• Monitor resident responses to treatment and report progress to the supervising PT.
• Document treatments, resident responses, and progress accurately and timely.
• Educate residents, families, and caregivers on prescribed exercises, mobility techniques, and safety measures.
• Assist with wheelchair positioning, adaptive equipment training, and use of assistive devices.
• Participate in interdisciplinary care conferences and team meetings as needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe therapy environment.
• Adhere to Medicare, Medicaid, state, federal, and facility regulations.
• Support fall prevention programs and resident mobility initiatives.
