Summary

Prepares and dispenses Methadone for the treatment of opiate addiction and provides nursing services to the methadone unit. Work is performed in accordance with legal, regulatory, and professional standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Evaluates patient's status, prepares, and dispenses medications per physician’s orders.
2. Ensures urine specimens are collected, processed, and results forwarded to appropriate staff.
3. Updates daily methadone dispensing records, including dosage changes and data entry.
4. Maintains internal records of methadone ordering, inventory, and narcotic records.
5. Reads and charts Mantoux testing results.
6. Provides nursing support to physicians, assisting with physical examinations and medical follow-up.
7. Charts all pertinent medical information, manages appointments, and prepares charts for physicians.
8. Provides information to medical facilities or health agencies regarding patient status.
9. Maintains and stocks nursing supplies as needed.
10. Assists in the operation of the methadone unit as needed.
11. Familiar with standards for treatment within the program, agency, state, federal, and DEA regulations.
12. Attends staff meetings, case conferences, and training sessions.
13. Provides coverage at the nurses’ station during dispensing hours and weekends as required.
14. Generates monthly urine labels.
15. Monitors missed medication lists and manages on-hold patients.
16. Checks transportation forms and schedules appointments for opiate-positive individuals.
17. Files charts and coordinates guest medications from other clinics.
18. Prepares intake work-ups, including urine collection, insurance info, lab requisitions, and scheduling blood work.
19. Evaluates emergency situations and takes appropriate actions.

Physical Demands

Qualifications
