Job description

PT, Temporary Adult Services Librarian - Old Bridge Public Library

Temporary, Part-Time Staff Librarian – Adult Services (28 hours per week)

Part-Time for Approximately Three Months (Mid-November – Through March): $34.60 per hour/35 hours per week. MLS/MLIS students who have completed a Reference Course will be considered.

Organizational Role

Provides reference and reader’s advisory services. Administrates Library programs. Collaborates with the Adult Services Team. Performs collection management duties as assigned.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Provides reference and reader’s advisory services.
  2. Manages assigned area(s) of the collection, including selection and weeding.
  3. Plans and schedules library programs.
  4. May assist in the coordination of ESL services.
  5. Cooperates with schools, businesses, and relevant community organizations for outreach services.
  6. May supervise and train volunteers as necessary.
  7. Assists customers in the use of the public catalog, computers, and copiers.
  8. Provides formal and informal technology training when assigned.
  9. Develops instructional tools such as bibliographies and research guides.
  10. Promotes library services, programs, and resources.
  11. Participates in Library and professional meetings, workshops, webinars, and other continuing education opportunities.
  12. Works a flexible schedule including days, evenings, and weekends.
  13. Performs other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

Preferred: MLS/MLIS from an ALA accredited library school. MLS/MLIS students who have completed a Reference Course will be considered.

Demonstrated experience and skills in the following areas: flexibility, initiative, teamwork, and customer service.

Proficiency in the use of current library technologies.

Possession of a valid driver’s license.
