Job Summary

This role involves developing and executing social media strategies, creating engaging content, designing promotional materials, and promoting programs, events, and facilities to the community.

Major Duties
  • Develop and implement social media and promotional strategies for parks and recreation programs, events, and services.
  • Create promotional materials such as flyers, brochures, T-shirts, advertisements, and more.
  • Manage and maintain the department's social media accounts, post content, engage with the community, and analyze trends.
  • Capture high-quality photos and videos at events for marketing purposes.
  • Update the Smyrna Parks and Recreation webpage regularly.
  • Design and distribute promotional and educational materials, including newsletters, program guides, camp offerings, and digital ads.
  • Collaborate with city departments and community partners to enhance outreach.
  • Assist with media relations and press releases.
  • Stay informed about industry trends in social media and public relations.
  • Develop and execute email campaigns to promote events.
  • Maintain a digital content library for promotional use.
  • Coordinate partnerships with local businesses and organizations.
  • Support community engagement initiatives, programs, and events.
  • Ensure branding consistency across all materials and platforms.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skills Required
  • Proficiency in graphic design software (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, etc.).
  • Experience with website management platforms (WordPress or similar).
  • Knowledge of email marketing platforms (HubSpot, Constant Contact, etc.).
  • Photography and basic video editing skills.
  • Ability to analyze marketing data and trends.
  • Creativity and attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Project management skills.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in graphic design software and website management.
  • Photography and basic video editing skills.
  • Experience with email marketing platforms.
  • Ability to analyze marketing data.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Valid driver's license (or ability to obtain one).
  • Successful passing of criminal background and motor vehicle checks.
Additional Information

This position reports to the Parks and Recreation Director, with work assigned through detailed instructions. The work environment includes both desk work and outdoor activities. No supervisory responsibilities are involved.
