Job summary

Taocc is seeking a Sleep Aide to assist residents overnight in a community residential program. The role involves monitoring safety, aiding individuals during the night, and preparing for the next day with proper documentation and communication.

Requirements include a High School diploma, ability to provide physical assistance in emergencies, and the ability to pass state background checks. Training is provided; overnight shifts run 10pm–6am.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Must possess a High School diploma.
  • Must be able to physically assist individuals to safety in an emergency situation.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate with individuals and co-workers.
  • Obtain a physical examination as required by ODP.
  • Obtain Pennsylvania criminal history check, FBI criminal history check, and Child Abuse clearances in accordance with regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to adhere to the required schedule for the job.
  • Must be able to provide/attain transportation to and from work as scheduled.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and complete job responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate the situation and assist during the night to help individuals return to bed.
  • Provide a safe environment and physically assist individuals to safety in emergencies.
  • Participate in night fire drills.
  • Adhere to The Arc policies and procedures, including confidentiality and documentation.
  • Maintain positive relationships with individuals, co-workers, supervisors, and families.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with the supervisor about health, issues, and problems.
  • Attend mandatory training (20 hours annually).
  • Attend staff meetings when required for important topics.
  • Meet with management to discuss work-related issues as needed.
  • Report to work on time and complete shifts as scheduled.

Pay Rate: $11/hour
Schedule: Part-time, Overnights 10p-6a
Sign-on Bonus: $250

The Sleep Aide provides assistance (as needed) during the night to individuals living in community residential programs. Assistance is sometimes needed in areas such as health care and safety. The overall goal of the Sleep Aide is to ensure that individuals are safe and that needs which arise during the night are met. Sleep Aides are permitted to sleep unless people in the home need assistance.

Essential Functions:
  • Should individuals awaken during the night, evaluate the situation and assist, as needed, in order for them to return to bed.
  • Provide an environment which ensures the health and safety of the individuals; be able to physically assist individuals to safety in an emergency situation.
  • Participate in fire drills held during the night.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and strict adherence to The Arc Policy & Procedure including, but not limited to: areas of confidentiality, attendance, unusual incidents/incidents, documentation, abuse and restrictive procedures.
  • Maintain a positive and cooperative relationship with individuals, co-workers, supervisors and families.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with the immediate supervisor concerning health issues, programmatic issues, unusual situations, and potential problems.
  • Attend and actively participate in training sessions in accordance with regulations and The Arc Policy and Procedure. Twenty-four hours of training is required annually.
  • Attend and actively participate in staff meetings as requested by the immediate supervisor or Training Coordinator. This would only be necessary if something extremely important is being discussed that would effect this position.
  • As necessary, meet with management at a mutually convenient time to discuss work related issues.
  • Report to work on time and complete all shifts as scheduled. The appropriate process must be utilized to obtain schedule changes/days off.
  • Demonstrate high professional and ethical standards in all aspects of the job.
