Job Description

Job Title: Security Officer

Department: Security

Reports to: Director of Security/Security Supervisor/Manager on Duty

Position Summary:

Protect the hotel guests, associates, and hotel property. Respond to emergency situations and use good judgment, serving the best interest of the Providence Marriott Downtown. Log and document all activities that prove safety and security measures are in place. Deliver outstanding guest service and attend to situations in a professional manner.

Essential Functions:

  1. Attendance as scheduled is required.
  2. Must be able to work flexible hours.
  3. Must be able to drive hotel vehicles.
  4. Must be able to lift and transport luggage.
  5. Protect assets of hotel guests and associates.
  6. Protect assets of hotel owners.
  7. Provide a safe hotel for our treasured guests.
  8. Patrol hotel interior and parking lots to provide a safe environment.
  9. Traffic control.
  10. Identify and deal with intoxicated persons.
  11. Identify and report suspicious persons on hotel property.
  12. Identify and report problems and hazards to ensure guest and associate safety.
  13. Knowledge of basic First Aid and CPR (If possible).
  14. Control of master keys for the hotel.
  15. Must have safety and security awareness.
  16. Must have a commitment to guest satisfaction.

Experience:

  1. Prior security experience preferred.
  2. Prior hospitality experience preferred.

Skills:

  1. Active driver’s license required.
  2. TIP’s certification is required.
  3. Some knowledge of security skills.
  4. Some knowledge of hospitality skills.
  5. Good decision-making abilities.
  6. Conflict resolution.
  7. Entry-level computer and report writing skills.
  8. Ability to work independently.

Physical Job Requirements:

  1. Heavy work - Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  2. Ability to stand during entire shift.
  3. Sit / operate hotel vehicles.
  4. Constant walking of parking lots, hotel floors, and stairs.
  5. Interior and exterior patrol of hotel property in all weather conditions.
