Primary Purpose

To provide fast, easy, flexible, and friendly service to our customers, adhering to Food Lion customer service standards. Assist the Customer Service Manager and Assistant Customer Service Manager in maintaining standards and maximizing sales through excellent customer service.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly service and engage customers positively.
• Greet customers and use their names when possible.
• Unload groceries from carts, grouping items for ease of bagging.
• Check carts and under seats for items before completing an order.
• Follow proper bagging procedures and handle transactions accurately.
• Follow procedures for handling payments, refunds, and error corrections.
• Maintain accurate cash control and follow override procedures.
• Assist customers by offering to take their orders to their cars.
• Maintain a clean and neat work station and front end area.
• Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs.
• Complete required training courses.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Effective communication and customer service skills.
• Willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements.
• Ability to perform cashier and service center tasks.
• Must meet minimum age requirements and physical requirements.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to use computers and communication systems.
• Perform repetitive motions, bend, lift up to 15-50 lbs., pull/push up to 75 lbs.
• Stand continuously, walk short distances, handle various substances, and operate equipment.
• Visual ability to check IDs and documents.
