Hannaford Supermarkets started out as a fresh produce vendor in Portland, Maine in 1883, and remains connected to those roots as a local market. We actively seek out farmers and producers to join our Local program, celebrating local foods, farmland preservation, traditions, and jobs. We are the first major U.S. supermarket to document that all seafood products are sustainably harvested.

Duties And Responsibilities
  1. Observe and follow all company policies and procedures.
  2. Clean Service Desk/Kiosk.
  3. Maintain a neat, well-groomed appearance and follow personal appearance policy.
  4. Assist in special projects and perform other assigned functions.
  5. Work within management planning guidelines to maintain productivity.
  6. Support safety standards, report repairs, keep work area safe.
  7. Treat all associates with fairness, dignity, and respect.
  8. Perform accurate price checks.
  9. Control store supplies usage.
  10. Record discrepancies and “not on file” items, request price checks as needed.
  11. Verify customer IDs and adhere to policies on checks, tobacco, alcohol sales.
  12. Manage register cash levels and request pickups per policy.
  13. Stay alert for security, report abnormal behavior.
  14. Process transactions including cash, checks, electronic payments, WIC, coupons, gift cards, refunds, lottery, Western Union, etc., in compliance with policies and regulations.
  15. Secure register when unattended, protect assets.
  16. Maintain equipment and report issues.
  17. Ensure store hygiene and sanitation standards.
  18. Recognize and differentiate produce merchandise.
  19. Perform cashier and service functions frequently.
  20. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Effective communication and customer service skills.
  • Meet minimum age requirements for the role.
  • Willingness and ability to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements.
  • Ability to perform technical job requirements.
Prerequisite Training
  • Completed Cashier/Service Associate training packet.
Physical Requirements
  • Stand 100% of the time with occasional short-distance walking.
  • Handle currency and operate equipment like cash registers, scanners, computers, calculators.
  • Bend and lift up to 15 pounds continuously, 25 pounds frequently, 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Push or pull up to 75 pounds occasionally.
  • Reach and grasp at waist level, sometimes above or below waist.
  • Meet activity volume standards.
  • Have visual acuity to check IDs, checks, documents.
Preferred Requirements
  • Greet customers and provide prompt, courteous service.
  • Record purchases accurately.
  • Collect and tender money correctly.
  • Process refunds per standards.
  • Meet physical requirements with or without accommodations.
  • Follow AML guidelines for Western Union, Money Orders, Prepaid Cards, Check Cashing.

Salary range: $15.10 - $22.60 hourly.
