Job summary

The GIANT Company in Pennsylvania is seeking a Pharmacy Associate to fill prescriptions, assist customers, and support daily store operations at our Hershey Road location.

You will perform data entry, dispensing, inventory checks, and customer service while ensuring safety, HIPAA compliance, and ongoing credential maintenance as a state or nationally certified professional.

• Must agree to wear the proper assigned clothes and shoes approved for this job.
• Must have and maintain valid specialty licenses, certificates, or permits required for the position.

Responsibilities

• Review the work schedule, check equipment, and prepare for duties at the start of the shift.
• Move totes, unpack supplies, and shelve items on appropriate shelves.
• Clean shelving, check inventory levels, and inspect product expiration dates.
• Help customers and answer telephone calls.
• Verify identification of customers for products when required.
• Complete the prescription filling process, including data entry and dispensing.
• Maintain license certification on their own; immunize if certified to immunize.

The primary purpose of this job is to fill prescriptions, help customers, unpack totes, answer telephone, and answer questions within specified limits. Team members are required to be either state or nationally certified.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Promptly, at the start of the shift, the team member will review the work schedule, check the equipment, and fill supplies as needed that would be required to perform the work scheduled, comply with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements, and otherwise prepare for duties.
• Move totes, open totes, unpack incoming supplies, and put the items on appropriate shelves.
• Clean various shelving, check inventory levels, and inspect product for expiration dates.
• Help customers and answer telephone calls.
• Must verify identification of customers for products when required.
• Complete the prescription filling process, which includes data entry and product dispensing.
• Required to be state or nationally certified and must maintain license certification on their own. If technician is certified to immunize, they will also complete the process immunizing customers.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

• Responsible for understanding company policy and procedures as promulgated in the policy and procedure manual and the employee manual.
• Required to follow all state and federal laws in compliance with pharmacy rules and standards.
• Know MSDS information about all materials used during work.
• Must complete and follow Lockout/Tagout training.
• Must complete and follow Confined Space training.
• Must complete Right-to-Know training.
• Must complete HIPAA for Pharmacy Associates training.
• Must complete all additional pharmacy training requirements.
