Job description

Join to apply for the PT Outbound Freight Handler role at Southeastern Freight Lines.

As a PT Outbound Freight Handler, you will load and unload freight onto and off of equipment, as well as assist in the recouping of damaged freight.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Preparing, sweeping, inspecting, and cleaning trailers before loading freight.
  2. Using safe lifting techniques to load and unload freight.
  3. Selecting and using proper freight handling equipment such as forklifts, hand trucks, drum trucks, pallet jacks, and rollers.
  4. Planning cube utilization and proper weight distribution during loading.
  5. Counting and inspecting freight for shortages or damage, and documenting findings.
  6. Reviewing freight bills for special instructions and verifying labels, destination codes, and manifests.
  7. Checking for special instructions, weight distributions, and discrepancies in paperwork, especially for hazardous materials, and ensuring proper placarding.
  8. Properly blocking and bracing freight to prevent shifting during transport.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Ability to pass background check and drug test.
  • Prior experience as a Forklift Operator, Dock or Warehouse Worker, or Material Handler is preferred.
  • Previous Forklift Certification is a plus.

Pay: $17.35-$20.85 per hour.

Job Type: Part-Time.

Work Shift: Second Shift.
