Job description

Join to apply for the PT Outbound Freight Handler role at Southeastern Freight Lines.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Load and unload freight onto and off of equipment, assisting in the recouping of damaged freight.
2. Prepare, sweep, inspect, and clean trailers before loading freight.
3. Use safe lifting techniques and proper freight handling equipment such as forklifts, hand trucks, drum trucks, pallet jacks, and rollers.
4. Plan cube utilization and weight distribution during loading.
5. Count, inspect, and document freight conditions, noting shortages or damages.
6. Review freight bills and manifests for special instructions, exceptions, and verify labels and destination codes.
7. Verify hazardous material descriptions, discrepancies, and proper placarding when handling hazardous freight.
8. Properly block and brace freight to prevent shifting during transport.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug test.
• Preferred experience as a Forklift Operator, Warehouse Worker, or Material Handler.
• Previous Forklift Certification is a plus.

• Pay: $17.35 - $20.85 per hour
