Job description

Join to apply for the PT Outbound Freight Handler role at Southeastern Freight Lines.

As a PT Outbound Freight Handler, you will load and unload freight onto and off of equipment, assist in recouping damaged freight, and ensure proper handling and safety procedures.

  1. Prepare, sweep, inspect, and clean trailers before loading freight.
  2. Use safe lifting techniques to load and unload freight.
  3. Select and operate proper freight handling equipment such as forklifts, hand trucks, drum trucks, pallet jacks, and rollers.
  4. Plan cube utilization and proper weight distribution during loading.
  5. Count and inspect freight, documenting shortages or damage.
  6. Review freight bills for special instructions and verify labels and destination codes.
  7. Check manifests for exceptions, verify hazardous material descriptions, and ensure proper placarding.
  8. Properly block and brace freight to prevent shifting during transport.

Qualifications include a High School Diploma or GED, the ability to pass background and drug tests, and preferably prior experience as a forklift operator, warehouse worker, or material handler. Forklift certification is also preferred.

Pay ranges from $17.35 to $20.85 per hour. This is a part-time position on the second shift.
