Job description

Join to apply for the PT Outbound Freight Handler role at Southeastern Freight Lines.

As a PT Outbound Freight Handler, you will load and unload freight onto and off of equipment, and assist in recouping damaged freight.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Preparing, sweeping, inspecting, and cleaning trailers before loading freight.
  2. Using safe lifting techniques to load and unload freight.
  3. Selecting and using proper freight handling equipment such as forklifts, hand trucks, drum trucks, pallet jacks, and rollers.
  4. Planning cube utilization and proper weight distribution when loading freight.
  5. Counting and inspecting freight, documenting shortages or damage.
  6. Reviewing freight bills for instructions and exceptions.
  7. Checking manifests and labels against freight bills.
  8. Verifying hazardous materials and ensuring proper placarding.
  9. Blocking and bracing freight to prevent shifting during transport.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug test.
  • Prior experience as a Forklift Operator, Dock or Warehouse Worker, or Material Handler is preferred.
  • Forklift Certification is preferred.

Pay: $17.35-$20.85 per hour.

Job Type: Part-Time, Second Shift.
