Job summary

Stop & Shop in Glastonbury, CT is seeking a Retail Store Associate to support stocking, merchandising, and daily store operations.

You will unload deliveries, stock shelves, build displays, and help maintain a clean, safe shopping environment while delivering friendly customer service. This role offers opportunities to grow within a long-standing local retailer.

Qualifications

• Stocking shelves and replenishment to FIFO.
• Display building and merchandising of end-caps and displays.
• Inventory and backroom care, including sorting and baling safe handling.
• Quality control to remove expired or mislabeled items.
• Store safety and cleanliness for a hazard-free environment.

Responsibilities

• Unload deliveries, stock shelves and rotate stock.
• Construct and replenish promotional displays according to guidelines.
• Maintain organized backroom and receiving area; pull overstock.
• Scan for damaged or expired items and document for processing.
• Sweep aisles, mop spills and ensure a safe shopping environment.

Core Responsibilities

• Stocking & Replenishment: Efficiently unload delivery trucks, unpack merchandise cases, and sort items for the sales floor. Stock shelves, rotating items to ensure older products are sold first (FIFO).
• Display Building: Construct, dress, and replenish promotional end-caps, island displays, and seasonal wings according to corporate merchandising guidelines.
• Inventory & Backroom Care: Maintain an organized, safe backroom and receiving area. Break down cardboard boxes, operate balers safely, and pull overstock back to designated storage locations.
• Quality Control: Routinely scan for expired, damaged, or mislabeled items. Remove substandard products from shelves and document them for processing.
• Store Safety & Cleanliness: Sweep aisles, clear debris, mop spills promptly, and ensure a hazard-free shopping environment for late-night or early-morning customers.
