Cerritos College is seeking a lecturer in the Music Department to teach courses and administer the Mariachi ensemble as part of the Applied MusicProgram. The successful candidate will join the Department’s qualified applicant pool to contribute to general and commercial music coursework.
Responsibilities include teaching all assigned classes, maintaining student progress records, and ensuring syllabi and documentation are submitted on time. Availability for campus-based instruction is required.

The Music Department is one of the five departments within the Fine Arts and Communications Division and offers coursework leading to the associate degree in general music and commercial music. The Mariachi ensemble is part of the curriculum for the Latin American Ensemble class in the Applied MusicProgram. The successful candidate will be added to the Department’s qualified applicant pool.
Master’s in music OR Bachelor’s in music AND Master’s in humanities OR the equivalent
Experience in directing and administering Mariachi ensemble(s) in a secondary or higher education institution.
Physical requirements may be met with or without reasonable accommodations. Requires ambulatory ability to move to various office and classroom-type locations and to stand, bend, stoop, and reach to setup equipment and provide instruction. Requires sufficient hand eye coordination and dexterity to write on a board or type on a computer. Requires sufficient visual acuity to read documents and make presentations. Requires sufficient auditory ability to project voice to a group, hear questions and prompts, and carry on routine conversations. Requires the ability to lift, push, and pull objects of medium weight (less than 30 lbs.) on an occasional basis.
