Job summary

Virtua Health in Medford, MA is seeking a part-time Medical Assistant to support clinical providers with patient exams, vitals, and histories.

The role includes phlebotomy, vaccines, specimen processing, patient phone screens, clinic scheduling, and routine regulatory tasks, with on-site duties and teamwork across the patient care team.

HS diploma and MA program completion with BLS are required; compensation is hourly with benefits for eligible staff.

Qualifications

• Must have HS diploma; graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or Virtua Health Medical Assistant Program.
• Current certification/registration as a Medical Assistant; in DE certification required within 1 year of hire.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patient for exam by documenting vital signs and chief complaint; prep exam room as required.
• Perform phlebotomy and collect specimens; administer vaccines and document accordingly.
• Screen and direct patient calls per protocol; inform patients about prescriptions and test results under physician guidance.
• Perform daily regulatory testing to ensure clinical equipment accuracy and compliance.
• Maintain par level of clinical supplies for the facility.
• Assist front desk with registration, billing, and appointment scheduling.

Summary:

Prepares patient and assists clinical provider with patient examination by obtaining and documenting vital signs, past medical history, social history and chief complaint.

Performs various clinical tasks within the scope of their certification and under the supervision of the physician.

Position Responsibilities:

• - Prepares patient for exam by obtaining and documenting vital signs, and chief complaint, and preparing patient for provider exam. Prepares exam room as required based on chief complaint.
• - Performs phlebotomy and obtains specimens for processing. Administers vaccines and completes required documentation. Performs diagnostic tests such as EKG, Pulmonary Function, etc. as directed and under the supervision of the physician.
• - Screens and directs patient calls according to established protocol. Contacts patients regarding prescriptions and testing results as directed by and under the supervision of the physician.
• - Performs daily regulatory testing as required and documents accordingly, to ensure that clinical equipment is accurate and compliant.
• - Maintains par level of clinical supplies for facility.
• - Performs front desk duties as directed which may include registering patients, billing, and appointment scheduling.

Position Qualifications Required / Experience Required:

• - 0-2 years of similar job experience in a medical office preferred.

Required Education:

• HS diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or Virtua Health Medical Assistant Program.

Training/Certifications/Licensure:

• Current certification/registration as a Medical Assistant. In the state of DE, certification is required within 1 year of hire.
• BLS Certification required.

Hourly Rate:

Hourly Rate: $19.54 - $29.20

The actual salary/rate will vary based on applicant's experience as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
