Job summary

Central Piedmont Community College seeks a lab assistant to oversee laboratory activities, ensure safety, and support students in a classroom lab setting.

The role involves preparing facilities, maintaining equipment, and managing inventories and student records, with additional duties assigned by the Program Chair.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree and/or two years of experience.
• Knowledge of laboratory procedures.
• Ability to work well with individuals with diverse background.

Responsibilities

• Monitors laboratory/clinical/on-line activities; enforces rules and regulations and ensures safe environment.
• Monitors students in a lab setting; processes basic data entry.
• Prepares facility for classes and ensures that work areas are clean and neat; lays out equipment, materials, and handouts for classes.
• Assists in maintaining laboratory equipment; performs simple maintenance, cleans and stores equipment when not in use, monitors condition, and notifies supervisor of any repairs.
• Monitors inventory of materials and supplies, initiates ordering process as needed.
• Maintains a library of materials which may include books, tapes, and magazines.
• Maintains records of laboratory activities and student files including grades and attendance.
• Additional job-related duties as required by Program Chair.
