Job summary

Legends Global seeks a Part-Time Cook for Destination El Paso to support event-related food preparation and service. You will handle food prep for concessions and catered events, maintain a clean, organized workstation, and ensure food safety and portion control during busy events.

Candidate should have basic food handling knowledge, the ability to follow recipes, and flexibility to work extended hours during events. A Food Handler’s card must be obtained within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Support with event setup and breakdown as needed.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

JOB SUMMARY

Under immediate supervision, performs various duties in connection with scheduled events, skilled and unskilled job tasks as assigned with the El Paso Convention & Performing Arts Center.

Legends Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities has an excellent and immediate opening for a Part-Time Cook at Destination El Paso. The Part-Time Cook will perform various duties in connection with scheduled events, skilled and unskilled job tasks as assigned with the El Paso Convention & Performing Arts Center.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Food handling and preparation for concession and catered events.
• Cleaning of equipment and utensil used to prepare food and beverages.
• Cleaning and maintenance of kitchen and appliances.
• Must maintain an organized and sanitary workstation .
• Follow approved recipes and production standards.
• Properly label and dates food items for storage.
• Maintain and organize storage rooms, refrigerators and freezers.
• Minimize waste by controlling overage and usage.
• Assemble and complete final production of hot and cold food items.
• Assist with plating of catered meals.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Considerable knowledge of food and beverage practices and procedures.
• Follow oral and written instruction and communicate effectively with others in both oral and written form.
• Remain flexible and adjust to situation as they occur.
• Organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
• Maintain an effective working relationship with clients, patrons, employees, exhibitors and others

encountered in the course of employment.

• Convey strong verbal and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of all major kitchen equipment and appliances.
• Must be able to identify and properly use all kitchen small wares.
• Strong knowledge of state health codes and sanitation standards.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
• Ability to execute large functions.Ability to work extended hours productively
• Must be able to obtain Food Handler’s card within 30 days of hire date.
• High school diploma or GED; and at least (2) years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Position is not substantially exposed to adverse conditions
• Position does require sitting/standing for long periods of time
