Qualifications

  • High school diploma and three years of lodging industry experience.
  • Associate's degree in Hospitality and Tourism preferred with relevant experience.

Job description

Part Time Continuing Education Instructor positions are available in the Business and Public ServicesTechnologies department. Qualified candidates must be proficient in front desk, guestroom attendant, housekeeping services, restaurant server, busser, and banquet service through education or experience. Candidates should be knowledgeable of property management (PMS) and point of sale (POS) systems used to streamline and optimize hotel and food service functions. Most classes will be held in-person on campus; however, courses may include online and off-site teaching locations. Teaching also includes organizing and leading off-campus field trips and supervision of student internships with industry partners.

  1. Instructs courses within the assigned program area and demonstrates a high degree of skill in teaching, models effective teaching techniques for other faculty.
  2. Monitors course offerings and makes recommendations to stay current; contributes to the development of course outlines and materials.
  3. Prepares records and reports regarding attendance, grades, course files and course evaluation; submits textbook/materials requests.
  4. Assists in planning class schedules which facilitate convenience to students, proofs schedule for accuracy and notes need for correction.
  5. Monitors instructional facilities for proper use, safety, security, and maintenance.
  6. Arranges for the design and customization of training programs to meet specific needs of organizations and their employees.
  7. Assists in the arrangement, coordination, and supervision of off-campus industry partner property field trips and guest speakers.
  8. Stay current on industry trends and best practices to inform course development and delivery
  9. Informs students of course information and advises students pertaining to career goals and industry trends.
  10. Instructs and supervises the training of students in a variety of learning environments, which may include online, traditional, or hybrid. Most classes will be held in-person on campus; however, courses may include online and at off-site locations.
  11. Adheres to the specific policies and requirements of the College and other pertinent agencies.
  • High school diploma and three years of work experience in the lodging industry (hotel, motel, or other lodging field).
Preferred Requirements
  • Associate's degree in Hospitality and Tourism or related field from an accredited college or university, and a minimum of 3 years' work experience in the hotel, motel, or other lodging field.
  • Minimum of 3 years teaching adult learners in a career and/or technical field.

Conditions of Employment

The pay grade for this position is part-time. Ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include off-shift hours, evening and weekend assignments may be required of any position. All positions are subject to budget approval.

Working Conditions

A typical classroom or online class may be scheduled during day, evening, and weekend hours at various locations. Typical classroom or training environment; Vocal communications is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; infrequently traveling between buildings on campus, to other campuses, or locally.
