Job Summary

Assist in making sure our residents have pleasant and enjoyable dining experience. The Food Service Assistant is responsible for certain duties including, but not limited to, preparing and serving resident meals, monitoring and recording proper temperature of food, setting up and maintaining a clean and sanitized serving area, restocking food areas, cleaning and sanitizing equipment, and other related responsibilities. The Food Service Assistant is responsible for certain duties including, but not limited to, preparing and serving resident meals, monitoring and recording proper temperature of food, setting up and maintaining a clean and sanitized serving area, restocking food areas, cleaning and sanitizing equipment, and other related responsibilities. Food Service Assistants assist with serving nutritious, appealing meals to residents. Assists with preparing menu items, snacks and supplements following physician’s orders, standards and regulations. Clears tables, sanitizes equipment and tables; other cleaning duties as assigned in the dining area and in kitchen/work area, including wash, dry, and restock dishes, pots and pans and emptying trash as assigned.

Interact with elderly residents and assist in making sure they have a pleasant dining experience. Maintains residents’ dignity, privacy, and confidentiality of personal information. Provides residents with opportunities for independence and choice consistent with their care plans. Safeguards residents’ property. Observes, measures and documents food and fluid intakes as assigned. Receives and shares information; observes and report and residents’ change in condition to appropriate staff.

Uses EMR accurately. Checks equipment before use and notifies supervisors or maintenance staff of problems. Operates dishwashing and kitchen equipment safely. Follows location infection control policies and procedures, OSHA, and CDC guidelines that apply to serving food, assisting residents, and cleaning. Complete all necessary in-person and electronic trainings that are assigned, and attend required department meetings.

This position will be held accountable for complying with all related laws, regulations, company policies and procedures pertaining to his or her position.

Possesses ability to work independently when necessary. Possesses an understanding of food safety and sanitation processes. Demonstrates ability to be on feet for the majority of the day and walk far distances.

Qualifications

Minimum of 16 years of age. Previous customer service experience, retail counting and reconciliation of money and knowledge of food service preferred. Possesses ability to read, write and follow oral and written directions. Ability to perform basic math. On-the-job training will be provided.

Depending upon location of hire, Serv Safe may be required to obtain within a designated time frame. Basic Life Support (BLS)may be required depending upon location requirements.
