Primary Purpose
Provide fast, easy, flexible and friendly service to our customers through the achievement of Food Lion customer service standards. Responsible for assisting the Food Lion To-Go Lead in maintaining standards according to Food Lion's standard practice manual. Maximize sales through excellent customer service.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Smile, greet each customer, use their name whenever possible, and provide prompt, accurate, and friendly service while engaging customers to create a positive shopping experience.
- Exhibit behaviors that align with Food Lion's guiding principles, core values, vision, and strategy.
- Shop multiple customer orders using designated tools and equipment.
- Recognize or differentiate between all types of produce carried in the store, including differences between varieties of similar classes of products (e.g., apples, lettuce, etc.).
- Substitute items when requested.
- Scan, bag, and label the purchase efficiently and accurately, following company policies and procedures.
- Verify all customer IDs presented and observe store policies pertaining to the sale of alcoholic beverages.
- Assist customers with order pickups.
- Complete Accountability Form from start to finish.
- Be courteous and helpful to other associates.
- Wear the Food Lion uniform with apron, complete with name badge, when on duty, maintaining a neat and clean appearance in accord with dress code.
- Control store expenses through proper use of supplies such as receipt tape, bags, and cleaning supplies.
- Adhere to all company guidelines, policies, and standard practices.
- Observe and correct unsafe conditions to prevent accidents.
- Notify QA of cleaning issues or maintenance needs for To-Go area and equipment.
- Successfully complete Computer Based Training (CBT) and Training Aid courses.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Meet physical requirements of the position, with or without accommodations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Good interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
- Desire to work in a team environment.
- Ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements.
- Must meet minimum age requirements for specific job functions.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to use computers, smart devices, and communication systems.
- Perform repetitive hand and arm motions.
- Lift weights up to 15 lbs. continuously, 25 lbs. frequently, and 50 lbs. occasionally.
- Pull or push up to 75 lbs. on occasion.
- Handle substances related to cleaning, packaging, and food products.
- Stand 100% of the time with frequent short-distance walking.
- Reach and grasp at waist level; occasionally above shoulder or below waist.
- Work in extreme temperatures for up to 20 minutes.
- Check ID cards visually.
