Job summary

Groovin' Gourmets, the catering division of Trolley Hospitality Companies, is seeking experienced bartenders for events across the Richmond and Hampton Roads regions. The position offers flexible scheduling and is ideal for someone seeking a second job with occasional shifts.

You will provide friendly, attentive service, handle drink orders, maintain bar setup, and ensure guest satisfaction throughout events. The role requires physical stamina and a willingness to work evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of bartending experience, preferably in catering/banquet settings.
• Able to follow directions and work independently.
• Effective verbal communication skills.
• This is a very physical position; must lift at least 50 pounds and stand for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Review event worksheet before arriving and be knowledgeable about the event details.
• Check in with Event Captain/Co-Captain at arrival and departure.
• Assist with unloading vehicles and setting up bar area and glassware.
• Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks; answer questions about ingredients and make suggestions.
• Verify legal drinking age of guests; handle payments for a cash bar if applicable.
• Clean up at end of event and pack away materials; assist with breakdown and housekeeping.

How You Will Make an Impact:

• Review the event worksheet before arriving at the event--be knowledgeable about the event you are working, timeline, bar type, food, etc.
• Check in with the Event Captain or Co-Captain when you arrive at the event and when you leave.
• Help unload the GG vehicle and set up the bar area and all appropriate glassware.
• During the event, prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks to guests, answer questions about drink ingredients and make suggestions for different types of beverages and cocktails.
• Verify that all guests served alcohol are of the legal drinking age.
• If the event has a cash bar, take payments for drinks (cash or credit, using the Square app).
• At the end of the event, clean up the bar area; pack all beer and wines back into the appropriate boxes.
• Assist with the general breakdown of the event; ensure no food, plates, beverages, or other debris remain behind and that rentals are neatly stacked in the appropriate location.

What You Bring to the Table:

• 2+ years of bartending experience, preferably in a catering/banquet setting
• Able to follow directions and work independently
• Effective verbal communication skills
• This is a very physical position--must be able to bend, twist, lift at least 50 pounds, and stand on your feet for long periods of time

• $20/hr + occasional tips
