Job summary

RCMA is seeking a Part-time Caregiver to provide developmentally appropriate activities in a quality early childhood program. The role focuses on a safe, nurturing environment that promotes physical, social, emotional, and intellectual growth for young children and families.

You will join a teaching team to support daily schedules, safety, and collaborative engagement with families, while upholding RCMA standards and DCF requirements.

Qualifications

  • In order to meet the minimum education requirements, please provide ONE of the following.
  • If using a CDA, it must be an age-specific Center-Based Credential.
  • Maintain uninterrupted enrollment in an accredited college while working toward an AA/AS degree.
  • Further training appropriate to the age of children being served may be required.

Education

Florida Child Care Professional Credential (FCCPC), Birth to Five Years
Infant/Toddler National CDA or Preschool National CDC Credential (Center-Based)
Early Childhood Professional Certificate (ECPC)
Child Care Apprenticeship Certificate (CCAC)
Staff Credential Verification issued by NECC
9 college credits in Early Childhood Education
3 months of experience in teaching birth to five years
Uninterrupted enrollment in accredited college toward AA/AS

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Work as a Part‑time Caregiver to provide children with developmentally appropriate activities in a quality early childhood program that offers a safe and nurturing environment while promoting the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development of young children and families. The Part‑time Caregiver Performance Standard explains in detail the essential duties and responsibilities of this position and must be used as an integral part of this Job Description.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following; however, other duties may be assigned:
Work as part of a teaching team to:
  1. Shows a warm, secure, affectionate, and social‑emotional climate for young children. (Note: Lifting and holding a child is an essential part of this role.)
  2. Follows daily schedules and plans that support the physical, social, and cognitive growth of young children.
  3. Follows rules and procedures that establish and maintain a safe and healthy classroom and outside environment.
  4. Be an engaged partner with families.
  5. Manages the classroom.
  6. Commits to professionalism and RCMA.
  7. Adheres to all RCMA funding and Department of Children and Families (DCF) requirements.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

In order to meet the minimum education requirements, please provide ONE of the following:

Florida Child Care Professional Credential (FCCPC), Birth to Five Years; OR

  • Infant/Toddler National CDA OR Preschool National CDC Credential. The CDA must be an age‑specific Center‑Based Credential. (A Family Child Care CDA is not acceptable.) OR
  • Early Childhood Professional Certificate (ECPC); OR
  • Child Care Apprenticeship Certificate (CCAC); OR
  • Staff Credential Verification issued by NECC; OR
  • College Coursework, consisting of:
  1. 9 college credits in Early Childhood Education; AND
  2. 3 months of experience in the field (480 working hours) in teaching children from birth to five years; AND
  3. Must maintain uninterrupted enrollment in an accredited college while working toward the completion of an AA/AS degree.

Note: Further training appropriate to the age of children being served may be required.

IMPORTANT:
  • Transcripts must be submitted to the Early Education Specialist (ECS) for review and to the HR Department for final approval.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Familiarity with the community served, including relevant occupational or cultural experience, such as a farmworker background, when applicable.
  • Current certification in Pediatric Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Pediatric First‑Aid.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish.
