Albion College invites applications for the part-time Campus Safety Officer/Dispatcher. This position is a member of the Albion College Student Development staff and reports directly to the Assistant Director for Campus Safety. The Campus Safety Officer/Dispatcher performs a variety of service and security functions to the campus community, to promote lawful behavior and protect the welfare of students, faculty, and staff, within a comprehensive student development program supporting a residential campus consistent with the mission and goals of Albion College, the Division of Student Development, and the Office of Campus Safety.
The Campus Safety Officer/Dispatcher completes all responsibilities professionally and provides assistance to all members of the campus community as needed. The role requires good oral and written communication skills, a calm demeanor, and the ability to effectively handle interactions with students, faculty, staff, emergency response agencies, and outside constituents. Skills include computer and telephone proficiency, emergency response capability, confidentiality maintenance, advising and problem-solving, high initiative, sensitivity to students' needs, and an understanding of liberal arts education.
This position actively promotes diversity, belonging, and equity through strategic outreach to various student groups, including underrepresented, first-generation, undocumented, DACA, and LGBTQ students.
