Overview

The Peak Health Aquatics Center at Mylan Park is an impressive, state-of-the-art, and fully accessible 90,000-square-foot facility featuring a 50-meter Olympic pool and diving well. Additionally, the facility houses a community pool with zero-depth entry, water slides, and play features, a six-lane lap pool, an outdoor splash pad, multi-purpose rooms to rent, and a fitness room. This facility promotes life-long health development in an innovative, friendly, and well-maintained environment.

The Camp Counselor position entails handling the day-to-day operations of the MP ATC Summer camp. You will assist with the instructions and supervision of all ATC camps. This is a perfect summer job for those seeking opportunities to grow their abilities working with kids, having a flexible work environment, and enjoying a fun-filled summer! Responsibilities

Essential Responsibilities:

[To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential responsibility satisfactorily. Other essential and non-essential responsibilities and projects may be assigned.]

  • Supervise camper activities to ensure a fun, safe environment
  • Execute weekly camp games, activities, on-campus field trips, crafts, etc.
  • Correctly respond to any injury or emergency situations
  • Provide encouragement to all participants in the program
  • Monitor camper drop-off and pick-up each day
  • Fully participate in all camp games and activities, including swimming during pool time and belaying during climbing at the rock wall
  • Handle camper disputes and other behavioral issues; accordingly, discipline as necessary
  • Effectively communicate with parents and guardians throughout the camp day
  • Promote a safe, learning environment for campers
  • Be available for both morning and afternoon shifts, and periodically throughout the Fall and Spring semesters
  • Attend staff meetings as scheduled
  • Other duties as required
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum of 18 years of age
  • Current CPR/AED/First Aid for the Professional Rescuer (CPRO) Certification or able to receive certification within 30 days of the 1st day of camp (June 2nd)
  • Complete all other required training upon hiring
  • Experience in youth programming or supervision preferred
  • Leadership and supervisory abilities
  • Knowledge of standard practices in recreational sports
  • Ability to thrive in an environment that values high expectations, accountability, and balanced lifestyles
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to relate with peers, children, and parents
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a professional team that collaborates effectively with colleagues
  • Analytical skills to identify problems, assess alternatives, and render consistent, logical decisions
  • Knowledge of standard practices in youth supervision
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Basic computer competency
  • Ability to handle customer service issues as they relate to Camp activity
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • State and federal background check completed and turned in before the first day of training
