At Hy-Vee, our bakery department helps customers celebrate life's biggest moments, and our Bakery Cake Designers are at the heart of making those moments special. In this role, you'll use your creativity and decorating skills to bring customer visions to life, from birthday cakes and everyday treats to wedding cakes delivered and set up on site. You'll also serve as a lead for part-time employees and collaborate closely with the bakery team to keep production running smoothly. Accountable and Reports to: Store Director; Store Manager; Assistant Managers of Perishables, Store Operations, Health Wellness Home; Bakery Department Manager
High school diploma or equivalent experience
Six months or less of similar or related work experience; we'll provide all the training you need to succeed
Frequently stand and walk throughout a shift in sales, food service, or delivery areas.
Where applicable to the role: ability to safely use sharp knives and blades for food preparation.
Where applicable to the role: exposure to heat- and burn-related hazards associated with cooking, baking, or grilling equipment.
Where applicable to the role: ability to operate a delivery vehicle in accordance with applicable DOT standards.
Perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning/sanitation duties.
This is a fast-moving role with significant pressure to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities. You'll work in the bakery department and can expect exposure to flour dust, noise, temperature extremes, cleaning chemicals and solvents, and residual fumes. Safety is always a priority, and training is provided to help ensure a safe and supportive work environment.
