Primary Purpose

Provide quality customer service within the Deli Bakery Department. Responsible for maintaining standards in accordance with the standard practice manual, maximizing sales through excellent customer service, and minimizing shrink through proper utilization of standard practice.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with primary emphasis on fast, friendly, and accurate customer service to create a positive shopping experience
• Be courteous and helpful to other associates
• Understand the use of ingredients, mixes, and icings and coordinate colors
• Understand production standards for processing all products
• Follow all technical manuals for processing, label placement, etc.
• Ensure proper sanitation of department, equipment, and proper food handling/preparation
• Ensure that ordering, receiving, preparation, conditioning, and displaying of merchandise are done according to policies and guidelines
• Maintain a complete understanding of and adherence to company guidelines, policies, and standard practices
• Follow Food Safety and Workplace Safety guidelines and procedures
• Observe and correct unsafe conditions that could cause accidents
• Report all accidents to the Manager on Duty in accordance with procedures
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
• Wear the Food Lion uniform with apron, name badge, and maintain a neat appearance
• Use company tools such as ACIS and CAO effectively
• Complete required training courses
• Perform all other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, and customer service skills
• Willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements
• Ability to use technical information to solve problems
• Meet minimum age requirements for the role
• Able to meet physical requirements of the position, with or without accommodations

Physical Requirements

• Use of computers and communication systems
• Repetitive hand and arm motions
• Lift up to 15 lbs. continuously, 25 lbs. frequently, 50 lbs. occasionally
