Job summary

Peregrine Hospitality in Beaverton, OR is seeking a friendly cafeteria cook to support breakfast services and assist in daily kitchen operations. You will set up, stock, and maintain breakfast items, clean tables, and follow safety standards.

Flexible shifts, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and good communication are required. Previous hotel or restaurant experience is preferred; culinary certification is a plus.

  • Assist with inventory of food and cleaning supplies and report needs.
  • Follow hotel policies and safety standards and work with the team.

Job description

  • Represent the hotel with authenticity, enthusiasm, professionalism, and businesslike appearance and demeanor to all hotel guests, clients, prospective clients, agents, and the community.
  • Ensure the morning breakfast and buffet has been properly set-up and continuing to stock as needed, in addition to proper break down and cleaning.
  • Maintain decorations and communicate to management the needs for maintenance or improvement to provide the highest quality of service.
  • Promptly clean table tops and chairs throughout breakfast hours as guests come and go.
  • Maintain cleanliness of all breakfast room public spaces and restrooms, including but not limited to front of galley, breakfast buffet, and assigned restrooms.
  • Retrieve all soiled linens to be sorted and treated.
  • Maintain inventory of all food and cleaning supplies and communicate needs to a supervisor when necessary.
  • Uphold a friendly demeanor with all guests and interact accordingly, including salutations upon entry and exit.
  • Adhere to all hotel policies and procedures throughout the execution of tasks and responsibilities.
  • Sustain the safety of the property though risk-management behavior, proper inspections, participation in Safety and Security Committee and knowledge of emergency procedures.
  • Follow 4 Keys service standards, standard operation procedures, and safety standards.

  • Work cohesively with co-workers and all departments as part of a team.

  • Safety requirements of PPE as needed for duty assigned and with use of required tools and equipment.
  • Must be able to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy; prioritize, organize and follow-up.
  • Be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgment.
  • Follow directions thoroughly; understand a guest’s service needs; work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team.
  • Ability to work well under pressure of meeting production schedules and timelines for guests' pastry orders.
  • Ability to transport cases of received goods to the workstation; pots and pans of food from storage/prep areas to the serving line.
  • Ability to work in hot, noisy and sometimes close conditions
  • Ability to work with all products and food ingredients involved.
  • Ability to use all senses to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow recipes.

Job Qualifications/Requirements

Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalence; culinary certification preferred

Experience: Minimum 1 year experience as a cook or cafeteria cook in a hotel or restaurant preferred

Additional: Will be required to work flexible scheduled shifts based on business needs

  • Ability to hear, understand and communicate orally and in writing to communicate with staff, vendors, and guests a normal in-person and phone conversation
