Job summary

Mercy Medical Center Redding, part of Dignity Health, is seeking a Physical Therapy Assistant to support the clinical team by implementing treatment programs and giving feedback on patient progress. You will work under the supervision of a physical therapist to guide patients through exercises and rehabilitation goals.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, 1 year of rehab aide experience, and CPR/BLS certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• CPR/BLS certification is required (American Heart Association).
• 1 year multidisciplinary rehabilitation aide experience required.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients to and from the PT Department and assist with transfers.
• Assist the clinical staff in patient care activities including bed positioning, transfers and gait training.
• Administer uncomplicated therapy modalities under a therapist's instruction and supervision.
• Prepare patients for treatment and assist with dressing and equipment.
• Fill and clean whirlpools; clean and disinfect treatment tables and equipment.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our PT Assistant, you will be a vital clinical support, meticulously implementing physical therapy treatment programs and providing critical feedback toward patient recovery.

Every day, you'll execute individual patient treatment programs developed by the physical therapist, guiding patients through exercises and activities. You'll provide objective feedback on patient and caregiver performance, collaborate with the supervising PT, and contribute directly to rehabilitation goals.

To be successful, you'll combine strong clinical skill implementation with excellent observation, communication, and a compassionate approach, directly contributing to effective physical rehab outcomes.

• Transports in-patients to and from the Physical Therapy Department which includes transfers to and from a wheelchair

• Assists the clinical staff in patient care activities which includes bed positioning, transfers and gait training of patients

• Administers to patients uncomplicated therapy modalities and procedures, under a therapist's instructions and supervision

• Prepares patients for treatment by the clinical staff, which includes assisting patients in dressing, application of braces and prosthesis, removal of segmental compression devices, and acquiring/preparing appropriate equipment for use

• Fills and cleans whirlpools as necessary

• Cleans and disinfects treatment tables and other equipment as needed

• Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire (must be through the American Heart Association)
