The clinical psychologist is responsible for providing professional therapeutic services to in school and Dirasa children (out of school for more than 2 years Lebanese and Syrian children enrolled in private and semi-private schools in BML) in need for intervention, addressing mental health, emotional, behavioral, or developmental issues.

The clinical psychologist will be collaborating with the IRC inclusion officer and caregivers to develop recovery plans, implement therapeutic interventions, and support individuals in achieving their therapeutic goals.

Deliverables

  • Conducting initial consultations to gather information for children in need.
  • Set an initial recovery plan for each client based on their symptoms and chief complaint and update the inclusion officer about each case when needed.
  • Develop a suitable and individualized treatment plan for 15 rehabilitation sessions, using various evidence-based techniques to address the difficulty identified.
  • Conduct individual therapy sessions with clients and monitor/document their progress using standardized tools.
  • Identify needs and interventions needed.
  • Submit record sheets for each session conducted with the beneficiary.
  • Fill mental health reports/case files for each beneficiary.
  • Submit a discharge report for each beneficiary who has completed the course of the intervention.
  • Regularly coordinate with the Inclusion Focal Point to confirm upcoming appointments and arrange follow-ups as needed.
  • Participate in team meetings and attend training courses when needed.
  • Inform the Inclusion officer about high-risk cases that need further help.
  • Deliver psychological consultation sessions to help children who are in need to enable them to explore their thoughts and feelings.
  • Lead children in need through mental exercises and role-playing activities when beneficial.
  • Refer to additional care or services when required.
  • Maintain detailed confidential records.
  • Follow IRC security measures and policies.
  • Participate in meetings, reporting, and planning meetings to ensure adherence to standards of care quality and reporting requirements.

Structure of Clinical Psychologist Sessions Minimum Qualifications:

  • Initial session (Anamnesis & Narrative assessment):
  • Conduct an anamnesis to understand the child's background and needs.
  • Outline expectations and develop a therapy plan.
  • Therapy Sessions:
  • Each child receives a total of 17 therapy sessions after the initial session.
  • Monthly Schedule: 5 sessions per month.
  • Total number of sessions/children = 18.
  • MA in Clinical Psychology
  • A completed clinical training/practicum in a university center consists of at least 100 hours of training under supervision and 300 hours of applied training.
  • Lebanese colloquium certificate for clinical psychologists
  • License to practice the clinical psychology profession from the Ministry of Public Health
  • Enrolled in the Lebanese Order of Psychologist.
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in conducting therapy sessions for individuals and groups.
  • Previous experience with local or international NGOs working with persons with disabilities, refugees, and vulnerable populations.
  • Personal interest in educational and mental health issues.
  • Extensive knowledge of mental health conditions and best practices for psychological interventions.
  • Organization skills to maintain up-to-date, easy-to-navigate children with needs files.
  • Fluency in verbal and written Arabic and French.
  • English language is requested for reporting.
  • Computer skills to operate record keeping, scheduling, email, and word processing software.

Assessment Skills

  • Ability to provide structured clinical assessments and clear case formulation.
  • Ability to recognize mental health priority conditions as per the DSM-5 and ICD-11.
  • Ability to use standardized assessment tools.

Management Skills

  • Ability to develop a consistent and acceptable recovery plan with clear objectives.
  • Developing family-centered, goal and strength focused, recovery-oriented care plan.
  • Trained and skilled in at least one evidence-based psychotherapy approach (e.g., IPT, CBT, TF-CBT, EMDR)
  • Guide and support caregivers of children with disabilities.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the psychological progress of the client.

  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
